Lay Fraternity of St. Dominic

Lay Fraternity of St. Dominic

Do you want to grow in holiness? Do you love spiritual reading and study? Are you drawn to liturgically rich forms of worship and prayer? Has God placed on your heart a desire to work for the salvation of souls? If so, God may be inviting you to become a Lay Dominican. The St. Mary Fraternity of the Dominican Laity meets once a month and always welcomes inquirers.

  • REQUIREMENTS

The Dominican Laity is open to men and women, married or single, who desire – in a manner appropriate to their lay state – to live a Dominican way of life and to share in the Dominican mission to preach for the salvation of souls. The Dominican Laity are part of the larger Dominican family, which includes friars, nuns, and sisters, and which dates back to the 1200s. Like their consecrated brothers and sisters, Lay Dominicans pursue a life characterized by a commitment to prayer, study, community life, and the embracing of an apostolate. Their prayer (which centers around the Eucharist, the Liturgy of the Hours, and the Rosary), together with ongoing study and participation in community life, serves as the foundation for their work proclaiming the Truth in today’s secular world to save souls.

  • MEETING INFORMATION

We usually meet in the afternoon on the second Sunday of the month at St. Joseph's Church.
